Ronald McDonald House      Honeywell TR21 Compatibility
TR21 Compatibility with TB7220 and TB8220 Thermostats
This is a notice to inform you that there is currently an incompatibility between the TR21 remote sensors (TR21, TR21-A, and TR21-J) and the TB7220 and TB8220 thermostats.  When a TR21 remote sensor is installed with these thermostats, the sensed temperature reading may be off by 3-8°F from the actual temperature.  These thermostats have a +/-3°F sensor offset capability in setup.  This can be adjusted.  However, this may not be enough offset for accurate readings.

There is no incompatibility between TR20 Series sensors (TR21, TR22, TR23, TR24) and T7350s or other building automation controllers like Spyder, XL10s, etc.  This only affects TR21 models when used with TB7220s and TB8220s.
The incompatibility is related to the unique circuit of the TB7220 and TB8220 thermostats.

The solution is to use T7770 sensors with TB7220 and TB8220 thermostats as shown in the chart below.

TR21 model Equivalent model
TR21 T7770A1006
TR21-A T7770A3002
TR21-J T7770B2004

This is only a temporary solution while we correct the circuit on the TR21 models.  We will send out another announcement as soon as we determine when the TR21s will be adjusted for compatibility.

The TR21 sensors are compatible with many other devices besides the TB7220 and TB8220 thermostats.

Phoenix Ronald McDonald House Integrates Security, CCTV and Facility Management with Vykon

Richmond, VA and Concord, CA – June 20, 2008 - While children undergo medical care at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Phoenix, AZ, many parents will be staying next door at the new Ronald McDonald House. The facility located on the hospital campus, provides a home away from home for families of seriously ill and injured children receiving treatment at the hospital.

To make the facility’s building controls and security system integrate with each other and to provide a comfortable and safe environment for occupants, Tridium and its West coast distributor, Controlco, donated their Vykon Facility Automation and Security solutions to the new House, Scheduled to open June 23. The Vykon solutions also integrate with the CCTV equipment donated by Dedicated Micros.

The engineering and installation was also donated by Controlco’s local Vykon Systems Integrator in Phoenix, Dataline Resource. “This was a very personal project for our company” said Pete Dunshie, President of Dataline Resource “bringing the best technologies and the best partners to one of the best charities.” This 17,300-square-foot location will be one of the first Ronald McDonald facilities to combine this powerful combination of technology.

“This new Ronald McDonald House in Phoenix is a leading example of what can be accomplished by integrating access control, closed circuit television (CCTV) and building controls all in one facility through one platform,” said Andy McMahon, Controlco’s Area Sales Manager. “By using the Vykon Solutions, the builders have been able to select best of breed products, making this a leading edge project in the realm of controls integration.”

“Tridium is pleased to partner with Controlco on this very special project. Installing Vykon enables the local managers to integrate a variety of systems into one unified solution, reducing cost and overhead. This allows the house staff to focus on what is important, the patients and their families.” said Marc Petock, Tridium’s Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications.

Frost & Sullivan Recognizes Tridium's Innovative Integration Technology for the Building Automation Systems Industry

Palo Alto , Calif. —April 23, 2007 — Frost & Sullivan selected Tridium, Inc. as the recipient of the 2007 Frost & Sullivan Industry Innovation & Advancement of the Year Award in the North American building automation systems market.

Tridium’s ground-breaking open-systems protocol framework integration gives manufacturers a universal platform in which they can develop Internet-enabled equipment systems and device-to-enterprise applications.

The vast capacity of Tridium’s Niagara Framework® has enabled the company to serve customer segments beyond traditional building control. These include telecommunications, medical equipment, industrial, M2M, convergence retail and the highly anticipated security controls platform.

“Niagara Framework® integrates diverse systems and devices, regardless of manufacturer or communication protocol, into a unified platform that can be easily managed and controlled in real time using a standard web browser,” says Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Jorge Moreno. “This framework is an extensible platform that supports the rapid development of a wide range of device-to-enterprise applications and provides many benefits in a variety of customer applications.”

Niagara Framework®'s integration software enables building managers to track and collect energy information to generate energy savings, improve efficiency, and monitor the condition of equipment. Tridium also has the added benefit of being able to integrate this data with a facility’s existing enterprise application, using various accepted Internet and web service standards.

In addition to traditional integrators, the technology is also being adopted by OEMs and reseller partners who are either implementing the product as is or building on existing code. Partners and clients are gaining greater flexibility in targeting specific end-user requirements and in meeting stringent government regulations.

Niagara Framework®'s technology also helps manufacturers to move their products to the web, reduce development time, migrate legacy systems, develop new service offerings, and open up new markets.

To enable the security extension to its Niagara Framework®, Tridium recently launched its Vykon Security platform, which helps authorized personnel manage access rights and schedules, time and attendance, and alarm response in real time through a standard web browser. Since this physical security system is based on an open-systems protocol, it reduces costs by allowing remote maintenance and troubleshooting, reduced installation time, requires less training and is completely scalable.

To further enhance the Niagara Framework®, Tridium has incorporated oBIX, which is a new standard in web-based service technology and it uses widely accepted IP Internet protocols.

“The robust Niagara Framework® can be used in a variety of applications such as energy management, convergence retailing, lighting control, M2M, total facilities management, and recently, the much anticipated security application,” notes Moreno. “A key factor that differentiates Tridium from competitors is that it does not limit itself to just building automation but has expanded into new applications such as Telecommunications, Medical Equipment, Industrial, Homeland Security, Life Sciences, Kiosks and Office Equipment.

An important foundation of Tridium’s achievement is its continuous efforts in research & development, which has enabled it to be an early mover and offer inventive as well as updated technology. It is in recognition of these achievements that it has earned the 2007 Industry Innovation & Advancement of the Year Award.

Each year Frost & Sullivan presents this Award to the company that has proven to be a leader in the industry and through its pioneering technology, sound business strategy, and research efforts, has been successful in moving the industry forward. This Award recognizes the company for its broader, more comprehensive participation in the industry and for its contributions to the advancement of the market.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
